by Stacey Midge
Holy Spirit,
Breath of God,
Wind of God,
Fire of God,
come to us and live in and among us
as you did to Jesus' first disciples.
When we wonder, as they did,
where our life has gone or where it is going,
let your breath flow into us and fill us with your living.
Comfort us in times of trouble
with the center that sustains us in all circumstances.
When we question, as they did,
what direction to take, or if there is a direction at all,
let your wind blow around us and guide us in your paths.
Counsel us in times of uncertainty
with the light that moves us forward in your steps.
When we huddle, as they did,
in safe rooms full of those we know and those who are like us,
let your flames burn away our false security and push us outward.
Inspire us in times of fear and apathy
with the fire that propels us into action.
Holy Spirit,
Breath of God,
Wind of God,
Fire of God,
speak to us, move us,
and if need be, compel us.
Transform us and send us out
to be comfort, counsel, and inspiration
to this world that you so love. Amen.
